Pune: Over a hundred citizens gathered in Undri, opposite Nyati Estate society, on Friday evening to participate in a heartfelt candlelight vigil honoring the late Dr. Pranali Date. The event, organized by the Mohammadwadi Undri Residents Welfare Development Forum, served as a dual-purpose initiative: to pay tribute to Dr. Date and to raise awareness about the dire need for road safety improvements in the area.
Participants, holding candles and placards, marched solemnly through the streets, voicing their demands for safer roads and better infrastructure. Messages on the placards highlighted the urgency of addressing the area’s long-standing issues, which have been a source of concern for residents for years.
Dr. Pranali Date’s untimely demise has ignited outrage and concern among the community, acting as a catalyst for collective action. Residents at the vigil emphasized the necessity of enhanced accountability from civic authorities to ensure that infrastructure development prioritizes public safety.
“We cannot afford to lose more lives to negligence and poor infrastructure,” said a participant. “Dr. Pranali’s loss has shaken our community, and we stand united in our demand for change.”
The vigil concluded with a solemn moment of silence in Dr. Date’s memory, followed by a vow from the community to continue advocating for safer roads. The gathering underscored the power of collective action in pushing for accountability and fostering change in the interest of public safety.
