Pune: To manage the increased footfall during the summer season, Central Railway has temporarily suspended the sale of platform tickets at several key stations in the Mumbai and Pune divisions. This restriction will be in place from April 18 to May 15.
The stations affected include Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), and Kalyan in Mumbai, along with Pune station. During this period, family members and acquaintances of passengers will not be allowed to purchase platform tickets to access the platforms.
According to railway authorities, the decision was taken to ease congestion and ensure smoother passenger movement within the station premises. However, exceptions will be made for those assisting senior citizens, the sick, women travelers, individuals with literacy challenges, and young children. In such cases, station officials have been instructed to permit entry.
Maintenance Block on April 20
In addition, a major five-hour block is scheduled for Sunday, April 20, on the slow lines between CSMT and Vidyavihar from 10:55 AM to 3:55 PM to facilitate maintenance work. During this time, local train services will be diverted to fast lines and will skip stops at Masjid, Sandhurst Road, Chinchpokli, and Currey Road.
A separate block on the Trans-Harbour line between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will also be in effect from 11:10 AM to 4:10 PM. Train services on this route will remain suspended for the duration of the maintenance. Passengers are advised to check schedules and plan their journeys accordingly.
