Pune: In a major success for the financial year 2024–25, Central Railway has intensified its operations against theft and unlawful possession of railway assets, leading to the recovery of property worth ₹87.42 lakh. The Railway Protection Force (RPF), working under the provisions of the Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act (RP(UP) Act), has reinforced surveillance and patrolling across all divisions, significantly curbing criminal activity.

Compared to the previous year (2023–24), which saw 534 cases and 1,272 arrests, the 2024–25 period has recorded a decline with 430 cases and 974 arrests. Despite fewer cases, the recovery value remains high—indicating improved efficiency and targeted operations.

Division-wise Performance:
Mumbai Division: 179 cases, 345 arrests, property worth ₹23.79 lakh recovered

Bhusawal Division: 77 cases, 171 arrests, ₹7.42 lakh recovered

Nagpur Division: 84 cases, 243 arrests, ₹33.07 lakh recovered

Pune Division: 71 cases, 159 arrests, ₹18.91 lakh recovered

Solapur Division: 16 cases, 56 arrests, ₹4.20 lakh recovered

The RPF’s coordinated efforts across these divisions have played a key role in securing essential railway property. This proactive stance reflects Central Railway’s continued dedication to protecting public infrastructure and maintaining law and order across its network.

These figures underline the success of strategic interventions by RPF personnel and highlight the importance of continuous vigilance in safeguarding national assets.
