Mumbai: Central Railway, under the leadership of General Manager Dharam Veer Meena, made a strong presence at the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025, with over 200 participants, including sportspersons, officers, and employees. The event, held on January 19, 2025, was flagged off by Meena, along with other dignitaries, in a grand display of sportsmanship and community engagement.
Meena personally participated in the marathon, competing in various categories such as the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10 km, and the Dream Run. In the 21 km run, Manoj Yadava, Director General of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), also took part alongside a dedicated team of 50 RPF personnel.
Their participation underscored RPF’s ongoing commitment to passenger safety, women’s security, and promoting awareness against trespassing to ensure safe travel. The presence of an RPF band stationed at Marine Drive further amplified the crucial message of railway safety, offering encouragement to participants throughout the race.
Indian Railway athletes continued their rich tradition of excellence in marathon events. Sonika Parmar from South Central Railway clinched the Silver Medal in the Full Marathon, securing second place with an impressive finish. L M Laxmi from Central Railway’s Nagpur Division also earned recognition, securing 4th place in the same event after completing the challenging 42.195 km race.
Meena congratulated the winners and praised all participants, emphasizing the noble cause behind their involvement. He expressed, “The Tata Mumbai Marathon is not just a sporting event, but a symbol of human spirit, perseverance, and community. This marathon embodies Mumbai’s vibrant energy, its cultural richness, and the boundless enthusiasm of its people.”
The event was a celebration of unity, sportsmanship, and the vibrant spirit of Mumbai, bringing together individuals from all walks of life to champion a common cause.
