Pune: In a shocking incident, a notorious criminal created chaos at a police station by pouring petrol on himself and attempting self-harm by banging his head against a police vehicle. The individual also assaulted and abused police officers. The Khadak Police Station has registered a case against the accused, his friend, and several relatives.
Police Constable Santosh Gangaram Sable (35) from Khadak Police Station filed the complaint. Based on this, a case has been registered against Buchadya alias Abhishek Sasane, his brother Kunal Sasane, their friend, and 2-3 female relatives. The incident occurred between late Monday night (March 10) and early Tuesday morning (March 11) at the Lohiyanagar Police Outpost and Sassoon Hospital.
According to police reports, brothers Abhishek and Kunal Sasane are known repeat offenders. The trouble began when Abhishek Sasane allegedly threatened a grocery shopkeeper in Lohiyanagar. The shopkeeper lodged a complaint at the Lohiyanagar Police Outpost. In response, Abhishek, accompanied by his friend Vivek alias Dandya Adagale, arrived at the outpost and caused a disturbance, arguing with police officers.
Although the police initially calmed him down, Abhishek later returned with several female relatives and a bottle of petrol. He attempted to pour petrol on himself near the outpost, alleging that false charges were being filed against him. The women accompanying him also created a commotion.
Despite the disruption, police officers managed to restrain Abhishek and brought him back to the station. Shortly after, his brother Kunal Sasane arrived and began shouting aggressively. When senior police officers attempted to pacify the situation, Abhishek charged towards them and physically assaulted them.
Due to his condition, Abhishek was promptly transported to Sassoon Hospital for medical treatment.
While being taken to the hospital, Abhishek banged his head against the police vehicle, causing further alarm. The female relatives accompanying him abused and hurled insults at the police officers. The aggressive behavior continued even at the hospital, where Abhishek persisted in verbally abusing police personnel.
Following the incident, a case was registered for obstructing government work. Crime Branch Inspector Manojkumar Londhe is leading the investigation.
In a related matter, an extortion case has been registered against Abhishek Sasane and Vivek Adagale. The duo allegedly threatened a grocery shopkeeper in Lohiyanagar with a sickle and demanded extortion money. The shopkeeper stated in his complaint that the accused entered the shop around 11 a.m. on Monday and issued threats to extort money.
Police Sub-Inspector Bharat Borade is currently investigating the extortion case.
