Pune: City is grappling with severe waterlogging following untimely rains, even as the official monsoon season is yet to commence. The unexpected flooding after just a single rainfall has sparked widespread concern among residents, who are now questioning the effectiveness of the Municipal Corporation’s planning and the accountability of those in power.
Despite annual expenditures running into crores of rupees for drain cleaning and maintenance, several parts of the city continue to flood with the first showers each year. This recurring issue has intensified public frustration, with many expressing dissatisfaction over the lack of proper infrastructure and preparedness.
In response to the growing discontent, the Nationalist Youth Congress (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) from the Kothrud Assembly constituency has launched a direct protest against the PMC’s mismanagement.
Banners criticizing the authorities for their negligence have been displayed at multiple locations throughout the city. The campaign was spearheaded by Kothrud President Girish Gurnani, highlighting the urgent need for better governance and effective solutions to Pune’s persistent drainage problems.
