Pune: A couple has been taken into custody for allegedly attacking a fort enthusiast at Malhargad in Saswad. The incident took place when Pramod Jagtap, a mountain trail runner and fort lover, caught the duo engaging in obscene acts on the fort’s ledge. Upon being confronted, the pair reportedly became aggressive and assaulted him with stones, leaving him seriously injured. A case has been registered against Vedant Jadhav and a young woman in connection with the attack.
According to police reports, Jagtap was making his way to Malhargad Fort around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday when he spotted the couple on the bastion’s ledge near Zendewadi. Noticing their inappropriate behavior, he attempted to intervene. However, the confrontation escalated when Jadhav allegedly retorted, “Does the fort belong to your father?” before striking Jagtap’s back with a stone. The female suspect then reportedly hit him on the head, causing severe injuries.
Despite bleeding heavily, Jagtap managed to descend from the fort and sought help from his friend, Kundlik Jadhav. He later approached Saswad police to file a complaint. Jagtap is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital, while the accused couple has been arrested. Authorities have registered a case against the duo for engaging in an obscene act and carrying out a violent assault.
