Pune: The number of COVID-19 infections is finally on the decline. Pune reported only 8 new cases, while Maharashtra’s total for the day stood at 30. However, the death count reached 33, which is worrying. The total active cases in the state as of today are 223.
Currently, Mumbai and Pune each have 8 active cases, followed by Thane with 3, Navi Mumbai and Kalyan-Dombivli with 2 each, Kolhapur and Sangli with 1 each, and Nagpur with 5 cases. Notably, Mumbai has witnessed the highest number of COVID infections this year, reaching a total of 973.
Of the 33 deceased patients, 32 had existing comorbid conditions, while one had other health issues that have not been specified by authorities.
An official from the Public Health Department stated, “There is a gradual decrease in COVID-19 infections across Maharashtra. Patients are mostly showing mild symptoms, and the recovery rate is improving. Our testing and treatment facilities continue to remain accessible. Hence, we appeal to the public to stay calm and not panic.”
