Pune: A shocking incident occurred at Chaitanya Bar near Navale Bridge on Sinhagad Road, where a customer was brutally assaulted by bar staff for allegedly paying ₹10 less on his liquor bill. One of the employees reportedly smashed a beer bottle on the customer’s head during the altercation.
The incident took place around 1 to 1:30 AM on the night of July 8. The victim, Tushar Yashwant Sutar (27), a resident of Marne Heights, Kutemala, Manajinagar, Narhe, had gone to the bar to consume alcohol. After finishing his drinks and meal, he proceeded to the counter to settle his bill. A dispute erupted when he allegedly paid ₹10 less than the total amount.
According to Sinhagad Road Police, three bar workers confronted Sutar and physically assaulted him. One of them struck him on the head with a beer bottle, causing serious injuries.
Following the assault, Sutar left for his hometown without reporting the matter. However, a video of the incident, recorded by an unknown individual, surfaced on social media and went viral. After watching the video himself, Sutar returned to Pune and filed an official complaint with the Sinhagad Road Police Station.
Based on his complaint, the police have registered a case against three employees of Chaitanya Bar. Investigations are currently underway.
The incident has sparked outrage online, raising serious questions about customer safety and staff behavior in bars across the city.
