Special Correspondent, Pune:
Following the tragic death of Tanisha Bhise, a pregnant woman who was allegedly denied emergency treatment at Pune’s Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital due to a demand for a Rs. 10 lakh deposit, her family has demanded immediate legal action against the responsible doctors and hospital authorities.
The Bhise family has urged the police to register a case against Dr. Dhananjay Kelkar, Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas, and Dr. Anuja Joshi for their negligence and for allegedly leaking the personal medical information of Tanisha Bhise. They have also demanded swift action before the accused flee the country.
Tanisha was brought to the hospital in a critical condition for delivery. However, the hospital administration allegedly insisted on a hefty deposit before admitting her, leading to a fatal delay in treatment. This has sparked widespread criticism of the hospital’s handling of emergency medical care.
The family has stated that Tanisha’s death was not merely a result of medical negligence but also highlighted the systemic failure, insensitivity, and irresponsibility within the healthcare setup.
They have demanded that Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas be immediately dismissed and his medical license revoked, asserting that his resignation is not sufficient. Furthermore, they insist that a case of culpable homicide be filed against him.
The family also accused Dr. Dhananjay Kelkar, Dr. Anuja Joshi, Dr. Sameer Jog, hospital administrator Sachin Vyavahare, and Dr. Ghaisas of inappropriately disclosing private medical records and internal reports. They have called upon the police and the State Women’s Commission to take strict and immediate action against all involved.
The Sassoon Hospital committee has also been requested to promptly submit its report on the matter to the police so that arrests can be made before the accused attempt to flee the country.
