Unidentified thieves broke into a house and looted a 70-year-old woman at knifepoint using a decorative sword kept in the house. The assailants assaulted the woman with the blunt side of the sword and stole 16 tolas (approximately 160 grams) of gold worth ₹12 lakhs. Before entering the house, the thieves secured the latches of neighboring houses from outside and removed the bulbs from the complainant’s home. As a result, even though the woman screamed for help, no one could come to her aid. This shocking incident occurred in a bungalow at Ambekar Vasti near Theur Phata.
Kamal Vishwambhar Doifode (70, resident of Ambekar Vasti, Theur Phata, Kunjirwadi) has filed a complaint at the Loni Kalbhor Police Station. Based on her complaint, a case has been registered against four unidentified thieves.
According to the police, the complainant usually resides in Mumbai and owns a farmhouse in Ambekar Vasti, Theur Phata. She occasionally visits the farmhouse. On Friday night (May 24), she was staying at the farmhouse along with a domestic maid. Both were asleep when the incident occurred. Around 2:30 am, the thieves broke the iron bars of the window in the prayer room and entered the house. They woke both women and threatened them with a sword. They forcibly took bangles from their hands, gold jewelry from their necks, and additional jewelry from the cupboard, totaling 16 tolas of gold. The police control room was informed, after which Unit 6 of the Crime Branch and a team from Loni Kalbhor Police immediately rushed to the spot.
Neighbors couldn’t come to help
Before entering the complainant’s bungalow, the thieves latched the neighboring houses from the outside. They also removed the bulbs inside the house. As a result, even though the woman cried out for help, no neighbors were able to assist.
Woman assaulted
The unidentified thieves had covered their faces with handkerchiefs. They were speaking in Hindi. The complainant stated that she was assaulted on her back and left arm with the blunt side of a decorative sword kept in her bungalow. Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Panhale is investigating the case.
