Pune: A 65-year-old domestic worker was robbed of her gold chain by a man who tricked her into accepting a lift and later threatened to assault her. The accused, Akshay Aniruddha Oak (27), a resident of Shanivar Peth, Pune, was swiftly arrested within four hours by Deccan Police.
The incident took place on Saturday, February 15, when the elderly woman, a resident of Dattawadi, was approached by Oak, who offered her a lift. Upon reaching a brick kiln near the Deccan riverbed, the accused threatened her with violence and forcibly snatched her gold chain worth ₹1 lakh before fleeing. The victim immediately reported the crime to the Deccan Police, who registered a case under Section 309(4) of the Indian Penal Code.
Responding quickly to the complaint, the Deccan Police team arrived at the crime scene and reviewed CCTV footage from the surrounding area. With the help of confidential informants, they identified Oak and traced him to Shanivar Peth. He was promptly taken into custody and brought to Deccan Police Station for further questioning.
During the investigation, authorities recovered the stolen gold chain along with a two-wheeler valued at ₹20,000, making the total seized property worth ₹1.2 lakh. The case is being handled by Police Sub-Inspector Ajay Bhosale.

The operation was executed under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Pravin Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Singh Gill, Assistant Commissioner Sainath Thombre, and Senior Police Inspector Girisha Nimbalkar. Key officers involved in the investigation included PSI Ajay Bhosale, Dattatraya Sawant, Assistant Police Constable Dattatraya Shinde, and Constables Dhanashree Supekar, Mahesh Shirsath, Sagar Ghadge, Wasim Siddiqui, Rohit Pathrut, Rohit Mirje, and Nagnath Mhaske.
With prompt action by the Deccan Police, the accused was arrested, and the stolen property was recovered, bringing swift justice to the victim.
