Pune: The Khadak Police have registered a case against an individual accused of practicing medicine without valid qualifications in the Bhawani Peth area. The suspect, identified as Pramod Rajaram Gundu, was reportedly operating a small clinic in the Kashewadi locality without possessing a recognized medical degree or registration with the appropriate medical council.
The complaint was lodged by Dr. Vasundhara Patil, a medical officer from the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) health department. Acting on the complaint, a team of health officials conducted an inspection of the clinic. During the inquiry, Gundu failed to produce any valid medical qualifications or registration certificates. Despite lacking the necessary credentials, he was allegedly treating patients, thereby violating the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act of 1961.
Following the inspection, the PMC health department filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Gundu. The clinic has since been shut down, and further investigations are underway.
This incident underscores the ongoing issue of unqualified individuals practicing medicine, posing significant risks to public health. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to identifying and taking action against such unauthorized practitioners to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
