Pune: On 31st May 2025, the Pune Division of Central Railway undertook a large-scale Fortress Check operation at Pune Railway Station, aiming to curb ticketless travel and unauthorized activities. The drive was executed under the overall guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Kumar Verma, with strategic direction from Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Anik Kumar Pathak, and supervision by Divisional Commercial Manager Hemant Kumar Behera.

The intensive inspection was carried out between 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM, involving a team of 25 ticket checking personnel. During this eight-hour window, 410 cases of irregular or ticketless travel were detected, resulting in a total fine collection of ₹2,10,000. On average, each ticket examiner booked 16.4 cases, contributing ₹8,400 in revenue individually.

Parallel to the ticketing enforcement, the division also launched a crackdown on unauthorized vendors operating on station premises. This separate drive led to action against 18 such vendors, raising the total number of offenders to 24, and yielding an additional ₹5,860 in fines.

A special focus was also placed on Divyangjan (differently-abled) coaches. Teams inspected 15 trains to ensure that these specially designated coaches were being used appropriately and not misused by unauthorized passengers.

Pune Division reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding passenger interests, enhancing discipline in railway travel, and upholding the rightful use of reserved facilities—particularly for differently-abled commuters.
