Pune: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a new weather advisory for Maharashtra, forecasting moderate rainfall and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours in several parts of the state. This development signals a likely revival of the monsoon beginning June 5.
While the last week of May brought widespread showers to the region, dry conditions had prevailed over the past few days. However, a renewed spell of rainfall is now anticipated, particularly affecting areas in North Maharashtra, Marathwada, and sections of Vidarbha.
North Maharashtra: Districts such as Nandurbar, Dhule, and Jalgaon are predicted to experience moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds.
Marathwada: The IMD has placed Jalna and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar under a Yellow Alert, indicating the possibility of moderate rainfall. Beed is also likely to receive light to moderate showers with windy conditions.
Vidarbha: Six districts in this region — Nagpur, Chandrapur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, and Gadchiroli — are under a Yellow Alert for moderate rainfall. Isolated light to moderate showers may also occur in parts of western Vidarbha.
Weather Outlook for Other Regions:
Mumbai and Konkan Coast: Mumbai and its surrounding suburbs can expect overcast skies with occasional light rain. Daytime temperatures are likely to hover between 26°C and 33°C. The broader Konkan region will remain mostly cloudy, with sporadic light rain in some areas.
Pune and Western Maharashtra: The ghat sections near Pune could receive light to moderate rainfall, though the rest of Western Maharashtra is expected to remain relatively dry.
Nashik: Hilly regions in and around Nashik may see moderate to heavy rainfall, contributing to ongoing pre-monsoon activity across the state.
The IMD has urged people in the alerted districts to remain cautious, especially those living in areas marked under Yellow Alert. Local administrations have been advised to stay vigilant and prepare for any potential weather-related disruptions.
