Pune: The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) declared the Class 12 (HSC) exam results today, with the state recording an overall pass percentage of 91.88%. Continuing the trend, girls once again outperformed boys, with a pass percentage of 94.58%, which is 5.7% higher than that of boys (89.51%).

MSBSHSE Chairman Sharad Gosavi, while addressing a press conference in Pune, informed that this year’s result is 1.49% lower than last year’s 93.37%. The exams were conducted for a total of 154 subjects, out of which 37 subjects saw a perfect 100% pass rate.

A total of 14,27,085 regular students had registered from all nine divisional boards across Maharashtra – Pune, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur, and Konkan. Out of these, 14,17,969 appeared, and 13,02,873 passed the examination.

Konkan Division stood out once again with the highest pass percentage at 96.74%, while Latur Division recorded the lowest with 89.46%. Other divisions also performed well, with Mumbai at 92.93%, Kolhapur at 93.64%, Pune at 91.32%, Nashik at 91.31%, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar at 92.24%, Amravati at 91.43%, and Nagpur at 90.52%.

For private candidates, 35,697 students appeared for the exam, out of which 29,892 cleared it – recording a pass percentage of 83.73%.

Among repeaters, 42,024 appeared for the exam, with 15,823 students passing. Their pass percentage stands at 37.65%, showing scope for improvement.

Meanwhile, differently-abled students displayed impressive performance with a 92.38% pass rate. Out of 7,258 students who appeared, 6,705 passed. The board clarified that eligible candidates were provided with grace marks as per existing policies.

While the overall result marks a slight dip compared to last year, the consistent performance by girl students and the high success rate in several subjects and divisions highlights the steady academic strength across Maharashtra’s higher secondary education system.
