Pune: A deeply disturbing incident occurred on May 2 in Paud village near Pune, where the idol of Goddess Annapurna at the historic Nageshwar Temple was desecrated by miscreants. The act triggered tension and outrage among locals, prompting immediate police intervention.
As per the complaint lodged, one of the accused forcibly entered the temple premises in broad daylight and committed obscene acts. He allegedly urinated on the idol and pushed it down, desecrating the sanctum. The individual then locked the temple gates before fleeing the scene.
Local police responded swiftly to the complaint and registered a case against two suspects. Both have since been arrested and presented before the court for legal proceedings.
In the wake of the incident, police deployed additional security forces around the Nageshwar Temple and the nearby mosque to prevent any communal unrest. Authorities have confirmed that the current situation in the village is stable and under control. Police have also appealed to citizens to refrain from spreading or believing in rumors, urging the community to maintain peace and harmony.
