Pimpri Chinchwad: In a decisive move to address community concerns, authorities have dismantled an illicit country liquor operation situated within a labor camp in Chikhali. The action was initiated after persistent complaints from residents of nearby housing societies, notably Horizon and Legacy Riverside, who reported disturbances stemming from the camp.
The labor camp, accommodating over 3,000 workers, had become a focal point for public disturbances, including frequent altercations, public intoxication, and instances of stone-pelting. These activities raised significant safety concerns among residents, particularly affecting women, children, and the elderly.
Responding to the escalating situation, BJP MLA Mahesh Landge directed the Pimpri-Chinchwad police to take immediate action. Law enforcement officials promptly dismantled the illegal liquor establishment, restoring a sense of security to the affected communities.
Beyond the liquor-related issues, residents have voiced apprehensions regarding the identities of the laborers residing in the camp. There are claims suggesting the possible presence of unauthorized individuals, including Bangladeshi infiltrators. In light of these concerns, residents have urged the police to conduct thorough verification and identity checks to ensure public safety.
MLA Landge emphasized the ongoing commitment to uphold law and order, stating, “Four illegal liquor shops were sealed recently. This action is part of our commitment to maintaining law and order in urban areas.”
The incident underscores the importance of vigilant community engagement and prompt administrative action in addressing unlawful activities that threaten public safety and harmony.
