Maharashtra: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several states, predicting rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds as a result of a cyclonic circulation over Madhya Maharashtra. The weather impact is expected to affect Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Karnataka from April 2 to April 5.
Heavy Rainfall and Hailstorm Warning IMD’s latest forecast warns of potential hailstorms in the following areas:
April 1-2: Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada
April 2-3: Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, South Interior Karnataka, and Telangana
April 2-4: North Interior Karnataka
April 3: Jharkhand
April 3-4: Odisha and Coastal Karnataka
In addition, heavy rainfall is expected in isolated regions of:
April 2-6: Kerala, Mahe, South Interior Karnataka
April 3-5: Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal
April 3-6: Coastal Karnataka
April 3 & 6: North Interior Karnataka
April 4: Andaman & Nicobar Islands
April 4: Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam
Heatwave Conditions Expected The IMD has also issued heatwave warnings for certain areas:
April 2: Saurashtra and Kutch
April 5-7: West Rajasthan
Additionally, hot and humid weather is predicted in Tripura until April 2, Assam for the next three days, and Gujarat for the next four days.
Temperature Fluctuations The IMD has forecast a gradual decrease in maximum temperatures by 2-4°C across Central India and Maharashtra until April 4. However, temperatures are expected to rise again by 2-4°C from April 5 to 8. A similar temperature drop is expected across South Peninsular India over the next four days.
Precautionary Measures The IMD has urged residents and local authorities to take necessary precautions against thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. For those in heatwave-affected regions, it is advised to stay hydrated and avoid direct sun exposure during the hottest parts of the day.
