Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad remain under yellow alerts for Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The Konkan coast is expected to stay under observation until at least mid-week. The alerts extend to interior districts as well, underlining the broad extent of this unseasonal weather.
According to the IMD, parts of southern and central India—including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh—will also experience rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds over the coming days.
Pre-monsoon activity has intensified in Mumbai, with rainfall levels rising over the weekend. The IMD anticipates an above-average monsoon season from June to September, with the southwest monsoon expected to begin soon, starting from Kerala.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant, avoid venturing into flood-prone areas, and stay informed via official IMD bulletins. Precautions should be taken to minimize the risk of accidents during this phase of unstable weather.
“We advise the public to avoid travel during peak rainfall hours and stay indoors if possible. It’s important to follow updates through verified sources,” said an IMD official in a public advisory.
