Pune: The Warje Police have arrested a man for misleading the police control room by providing false information about a rape incident while under the influence of alcohol. The incident took place in the Ramnagar area of Warje on Sunday.
Police Constable Amol Sutkar has filed a complaint at Warje Police Station. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against Nivas Narayan Akole (42), a resident of Ramnagar, Warje.
According to the police, on Sunday (March 9) around 2:30 PM, the accused, Akole, called the police control room (118) and falsely reported that a woman had been assaulted in the Ramnagar area. Taking the matter seriously, Police Inspector Nilesh Badakh and Sub-Inspector R. R. Bharasat from Warje Police Station’s crime branch immediately rushed to the location. Patrolling police teams also promptly reached the spot and began an investigation.
However, upon investigation, it was revealed that no such incident had occurred in the Ramnagar area. It became evident that Akole had deliberately misled the police with false information.
A case has been registered against him for providing misleading information and under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. The investigation is currently being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Bharasat.
