Mumbai: In a significant boost to regional infrastructure, Jat Taluka in Sangli district has officially received its own Regional Transport Office (RTO) code – MH 59. This development is set to drastically improve access to transport-related services for residents of the region.
Until now, citizens of Jat had to travel to the main RTO office in Sangli for essential tasks such as vehicle registration, driving license applications, and payment of road taxes. The absence of a local RTO often led to delays and posed challenges for people living in the more remote parts of the taluka.
With the allocation of the MH 59 code, Jat will now have its own Deputy Regional Transport Office, offering convenient, efficient, and timely services within the taluka itself. This move is expected to reduce travel time and administrative burdens for the local population.
The establishment of the RTO office comes as the result of sustained efforts by BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar, who consistently pushed for enhanced transport infrastructure in the region. Padalkar had previously raised the demand with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who assured the setup of a sub-regional RTO during the last assembly election campaign. That assurance has now been fulfilled, with Padalkar expressing gratitude and felicitating the Chief Minister for delivering on the commitment.
This development is part of Maharashtra’s larger initiative to decentralize public services and make governance more accessible to every corner of the state.
