Pune: Police have arrested a gang involved in stealing plumbing and electrical materials from an under-construction residential project in the Kharadi area. Among those arrested are three women, and a total of four individuals have been taken into custody. The police have recovered stolen materials worth ₹3.28 lakh from the accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Aba Govind Jadhav (41, resident of Swami Samarth Colony, Kalepadal, Hadapsar; originally from Siddhatek, Jalalpur, Karjat, District Ahilyanagar), Surekha Tatya Chaudhary (24, resident of Swami Samarth Colony, Kalepadal, Hadapsar), Rani Shivaji Gaikwad (29), and Sunita Aba Jadhav (25). A case has been registered against them at Kharadi Police Station, following a complaint lodged by a representative from the affected construction company.
According to the police, the complainant works as a cashier for Devkar and Movers Firm, a construction company operating in Kharadi. On March 10, thieves broke into the office by smashing the door and stole construction materials. Following the complaint, the police launched an investigation.
During the probe, police officers Surendra Sable and Sachin Patil conducted a technical investigation and discovered that the theft was carried out by women. The police then reviewed CCTV footage from various locations, which revealed that the stolen goods were first transported in an auto-rickshaw and later loaded into a tempo.
After identifying the tempo’s registration number, the police detained Aba Jadhav, the driver of the vehicle. Upon interrogation, he confessed to the crime and revealed that his female relatives—Surekha, Rani, and Sunita—were also involved in the theft. Following this confession, the police arrested all four accused.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav and Assistant Commissioner of Police Pranjali Sonawane. The investigating team included Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Chavan, Sub-Inspector Rahul Kolpe, and officers Surendra Sable, Amit Jadhav, Sachin Randive, Mahesh Nanekar, Shrikant Shende, Sachin Patil, Shrikant Kodre, Mukesh Panpatil, Pravin Gawhane, and Rajshree Ghule.
The police have successfully recovered the stolen goods and continue to investigate further leads related to the case.
