Pune: A 66-year-old labourer tragically died after falling from a tree while trimming its branches inside a housing society premises in Baner. The incident occurred around 4:30 PM on July 27. Following the mishap, an FIR has been registered at Baner Police Station against the contractor and two office bearers of the society.
The deceased has been identified as Lahu Gulab Kshirsagar, a resident of Ingwale Chowk, Pimple Nilakh. His son, Amol Lahu Kshirsagar (34), lodged the complaint, alleging that no safety equipment was provided for the tree-cutting task, making the contractor and society officials responsible for the fatal accident.
According to the police, the incident took place at a society in the Ruturang Park area of Baner. Due to overgrown branches, the society had assigned the trimming work to contractor Ramesh Vaman Londhe. On July 27, while Kshirsagar was up the tree cutting branches, he lost balance and fell, suffering serious injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed during treatment.
Baner Police have booked contractor Ramesh Londhe, Society Chairman Shrikrishna Saraf, and Secretary Shrikrishna Bidwe under charges of negligence and failure to provide adequate safety measures.
Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant visited the spot, and Assistant Police Inspector Thite is currently investigating
