A shocking incident occurred in the Warje Malwadi area where a labourer was allegedly robbed after being misled by two unidentified men who offered him a ride in an autorickshaw. A case has been registered at the Warje Malwadi Police Station.
The complainant, Rahul Govind Bhoi (33), a resident of Bavdhan, filed a complaint with the police, naming two unidentified accused.
According to police reports, Bhoi, who works as a labourer, was waiting for transport near the Warje bridge around 6:30 p.m. on Monday (May 12) to return home. At that time, an autorickshaw driver along with his accomplice approached him and offered to drop him at Bavdhan. Trusting them, Bhoi boarded the rickshaw.
Instead of taking the direct route, the rickshaw turned towards the service road leading to a hilly area near the MHADA colony in Warje, under the pretext that one of them needed to urinate. Once in the secluded spot, the duo allegedly beat and abused Bhoi, robbing him of his mobile phone and ₹9,000 in cash. The accused then fled the scene with the rickshaw.
Following the assault and threats, Bhoi was left in shock and could not note down the rickshaw’s registration number. Senior Police Inspector Vishwajeet Kaingade confirmed the incident and assured that police are actively searching for the culprits and expect to apprehend them soon.
