Pune: Lohegaon emerged as the hottest location in Maharashtra on Saturday, recording a maximum temperature of 39.8°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The heatwave-like conditions are expected to persist for the next three to four days, with dry weather prevailing across the state.
Lohegaon has been consistently reporting high temperatures, having previously recorded 38.6°C on March 3 and 38°C on March 6. Other areas in Pune also saw a sharp spike, with Koregaon Park reaching 39.1°C and Chinchwad touching 39.4°C on Saturday.
IMD data revealed that Pune’s maximum temperature on March 7 was 36.4°C, exceeding the normal by 1.5°C, while on March 8, it soared to 38°C, which was 3.1°C above normal.
Across Maharashtra, maximum temperatures are currently 1.7°C to 4.6°C above normal. Lohegaon’s temperature exceeded the normal range by 4.6°C, making it the hottest place in the state.

IMD has issued a yellow alert for heatwave-like conditions in isolated areas of coastal Maharashtra, including Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and parts of Mumbai.
Despite the daytime heat, Pune experienced a slight drop in night temperatures over the past 48 hours.
March 7: 13.2°C (1.6°C below normal)
March 8: 14.4°C (within the normal range)
According to an IMD official, cool northern winds briefly influenced the dip in nighttime temperatures. However, with this effect fading, night temperatures are expected to rise again from March 8 onward.
With no active weather system affecting Maharashtra, dry and warm conditions will persist across the state in the coming days.
