Pune: A man who molested a young woman and fled the scene has been arrested by Hadapsar Police. Impressively, a chargesheet was filed within 48 hours of his arrest in the Lashkar Court. The complaint was registered at Hadapsar Police Station by the young woman.
Based on her complaint, Ashwin Bhimrao Kamble was taken into custody.
According to police reports, on Wednesday, May 14, the young woman was riding a two-wheeler in the Hadapsar area when the accused, Kamble, started following her on his motorcycle. On DP Road in Malwadi, he blocked her path, molested her, and told her, “Marry me,” while snatching her mobile phone before fleeing the scene.
The young woman informed her father about the incident. When her father confronted Kamble, he verbally abused him and even threatened to kill him.
Subsequently, the woman lodged a complaint at Hadapsar Police Station. An investigation was launched, and Kamble, who had gone into hiding, was tracked down and arrested. The police also recovered the stolen mobile phone from him.
Her statement was recorded under Section 183 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Lashkar Court. The crime scene was inspected in the presence of two panch witnesses, and the police recorded statements of eight witnesses. Technical evidence was also collected. Kamble was presented in Lashkar Court on May 15, and a chargesheet was filed within 48 hours of his arrest.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Rajkumar Shinde (Zone 5), and Assistant Commissioner Anuradha Udamale. The investigating team included Senior Inspector Sanjay Mogle, Inspector Nilesh Jagdale (Crime Branch), Assistant Inspector Hasina Shikalgar, and officers Shirke, Deepak Kamble, Chandrakant Rejitwad, Rathod, Mahamuni, Chavan, and Raut.
