Pune : In a swift operation, Chandan Nagar Police in Pune apprehended a man within 24 hours for allegedly kidnapping a 13-year-old schoolgirl by luring her with snacks in the Vadgaon Sheri area.
The accused has been identified as Abhishek Vijay Jadhav (22), currently residing in Ganeshnagar, Vadgaon Sheri, originally from Pathardi in Ahilya Nagar district. The incident occurred on July 5, when the girl failed to return home after school, prompting her family to file a missing person’s complaint at the Chandan Nagar police station.
Acting promptly, police launched an investigation and scrutinized CCTV footage from the area. Technical surveillance led them to confirm that Jadhav had lured the girl with snacks and taken her away. Further tracking indicated their presence in the Ahilya Nagar locality.
A police team was immediately dispatched to the area, where they successfully rescued the minor girl and arrested Jadhav. The motive behind the kidnapping is currently under investigation.
Jadhav was produced before the court, which has remanded him to police custody for three days.
The operation was led under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IV) Somay Munde and Assistant Commissioner of Police Pranjali Sonawane. The team comprised Senior Inspector Seema Dhakne, Sub-Inspector Sachin Raut, and Constable Devkate, who conducted the operation and solved the case within a day.
