Pune: A major fire broke out at Nana Chi Chawl No. 4 and 5 in Mhalunge on Monday morning at around 10:37 AM. Firefighting teams from Aundh Fire Station, PMRDA Fire Station, and MIDC Fire Station swiftly responded to the emergency, dispatching a total of five fire engines to the site.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that the blaze had spread across twenty houses, each constructed with 10×10 tin sheds. Out of these, eighteen homes were completely engulfed in flames. The fire personnel launched a coordinated effort, attacking the fire from all four sides with high-pressure water hoses. After an intense 30-minute operation, they successfully brought the situation under control and continued cooling operations to prevent any reignition.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or casualties. However, the inferno caused significant property damage, destroying household essentials such as mattresses, clothing, chairs, cupboards, furniture, and electrical wiring.
Authorities are conducting further investigations to ascertain the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage. Residents affected by the incident are seeking assistance for immediate relief and rehabilitation measures.
