Pune: In a proactive step toward monsoon preparedness, Tehsildar Abhay Chavan of Khalapur Taluka conducted an on-ground inspection of landslide-prone areas in the region. The visit, carried out under the guidance of Karjat Sub-Divisional Officer Prakash Sankpal, comes in the wake of the tragic Irshalgad incident and increasing concerns over heavy rainfall.
Tehsildar Chavan, along with a team of key administrative and civic officials, visited Kajuwadi and Subhash Nagar in Khopoli, and Beed Khurd and Tadvadi villages in the taluka. The objective was to assess vulnerable zones and ensure early preventive measures are in place before the onset of monsoon.
The inspection team included Naib Tehsildar Sudhakar Rathod, Public Works Department Sub-Divisional Engineer Prashant Rakhade, Khopoli Municipal Council Chief Officer Dr. Pankaj Patil, Assistant Police Inspector Manoj Thakre, Forest Officer Bhagwan Dalvi, Circle Officers Bharat Sawant, Sandesh Pansare, and Manik Sanap, Khalapur Panchayat Samiti representative Shailendra Tandel, and Deputy Superintendent from the Land Records Office Yatiraj Khandekar. Members of NGOs working for accident victims, Gramsevaks, and other officials were also part of the visit.
During the survey, the officials interacted with local villagers to understand their concerns and reviewed possible mitigation strategies. Based on ground inputs, departments were instructed to initiate immediate and effective measures to safeguard lives and property ahead of the monsoon season.
