Pune: In a shocking incident in Swami Chincholi village of Daund taluka, a highly educated woman strangled her two young children to death before attacking her husband with a machete. The deceased children have been identified as Shambhu Duryodhan Minde (1 year old) and Piyu Duryodhan Minde (3 years old). The woman’s husband, Duryodhan Abasaheb Minde (35 years old), sustained serious injuries in the attack. The Daund police have registered a case against Komal Duryodhan Minde (30 years old) for the brutal crime.
Duryodhan, an IT engineer, works for a company in Pune’s Kharadi area and was currently working from home. The family lived in their house in Swami Chincholi. The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday. After having dinner on Friday night, the family went to bed as usual. At dawn, Komal strangled her two children to death and then attacked her sleeping husband with a machete.
Hearing his screams, Duryodhan’s parents and brother woke up, along with neighbors who rushed to the scene. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Baramati in critical condition. The local police were alerted, and officials, including Daund Sub-Divisional Officer Bapusaheb Dadas, Police Inspector Gopal Pawar, Assistant Inspector Nagnath Patil, Sub-Inspector Dattatray Kumbhar, and Assistant Police Inspector Gorakh Malgunde, reached the scene.
The police conducted a panchnama (official investigation) and sent the children’s bodies for post-mortem examination. Komal was taken into custody and is currently being interrogated. While the exact motive behind the murders and the attack remains unclear, police suspect it stemmed from a family dispute.
