Pune: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule will begin a hunger strike from Wednesday morning in front of the Pune District Collector’s office, demanding the concretization of the road leading to the Bholenath temple at Shri Kshetra Baneshwar in Bhor taluka. The road, stretching from Baneshwar Phata to the Forest Department archway, is in a highly deteriorated condition.
Speaking on the issue, Supriya Sule said, “Despite continuous follow-ups, no action has been taken to repair this severely damaged road. Frustrated by the apathy of the authorities, I will sit on a hunger strike starting at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at the Pune Collector’s office.”
She further added, “I have repeatedly brought the poor condition of the road—stretching from Baneshwar Phata to the Forest Department gate—at Shri Kshetra Baneshwar to the attention of the administration. On March 4, I had warned that I would go on a hunger strike if action wasn’t taken. In response, the PMRDA Commissioner contacted me on March 3 and assured me that the road would be repaired within a week. However, the deadline has passed, and no work has begun. It is shocking and disappointing that the administration continues to make false promises.”
“I humbly request the Honourable Chief Minister to intervene. This road is of great significance for devotees visiting the temple, and its poor condition is causing severe inconvenience to both the devotees and local residents. Despite raising this matter multiple times, the government and the administration have turned a blind eye. Left with no other option, I will begin my hunger strike at 10 AM on April 9 at the Pune District Collector’s office,” Sule declared.
