Pune: A 24-year-old woman from Mumbai was allegedly raped and cheated of ₹25 lakh by a man she met while staying at a co-ed hostel in Pune’s Koregaon Park area. The accused, identified as Kabir Ahmed Khan alias Kabir Arora (30), allegedly lured the woman into a false relationship under the pretext of marriage, established physical relations with her without consent based on false promises, and later defrauded her through multiple financial scams.
According to the FIR registered at Vishrantwadi Police Station, the woman had come to Pune for a two-day training program after being selected by a private foundation. During her stay, she met Kabir, who won her trust through emotional manipulation and sweet talk. He shared stories of personal hardship and soon told her that he was in love with her and wanted to marry her.
Using this false promise of marriage, Kabir allegedly took her to a lodge one night, claiming his bank account was frozen and asking her to pay for the room. Inside the lodge, he raped her. Later, he continued the relationship and repeatedly called her, reinforcing the promise of marriage. On another occasion, he took her to Mumbai and again established physical relations under the same false pretense.
Kabir also used her mobile phone to take out online loans in her name, claiming he needed money for work-related travel to Delhi. Over time, he allegedly took her on international trips to Nepal, Thailand, and Azerbaijan, where he continued to sexually exploit her and extract more money.
The woman, who works in the private sector, realized she had been manipulated, exploited, and financially drained. She then approached the police and filed a complaint. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC, including rape and cheating, and further investigation is underway.
