Pune – The death of a minor girl whose body was recently discovered near the Bhima River basin in Majrewadi has been confirmed as a case of murder, according to investigating officials. The young girl, who had gone missing from Rajgurunagar, was found with severe injuries to her head and face, indicating a violent assault.
The girl had reportedly left her home stating she was heading to her classes. When she failed to return, concerned family members approached the Rajgurunagar police and filed a missing person complaint. During the ensuing investigation, police reviewed local CCTV footage, which showed the minor travelling as a pillion passenger on a two-wheeler with a local villager.
Further investigation revealed that the man seen in the footage allegedly took the girl to a secluded location near the Bhima River basin. It is suspected that she was assaulted and then thrown into the river area, resulting in fatal injuries.
Authorities believe the suspect may have tortured and murdered the girl before abandoning her body. While the motive behind the crime remains unclear, police have launched a deeper probe to determine the circumstances leading to her death.
The victim’s body has been sent to Sassoon General Hospital for post-mortem examination to assist in the ongoing investigation.
Police teams are continuing efforts to apprehend the suspect and gather more evidence to bring clarity to this tragic incident.
