Mumbai: Uttam Jankar, an MLA from the Malshiras constituency and a prominent leader of the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), has once again stirred controversy by questioning EVM reliability. Jankar claims that the Maharashtra government will “100% collapse within the next three months.”
Even three months after the elections, debates over EVMs continue to fuel accusations between the ruling coalition and the opposition. Leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) have expressed doubts over the Mahayuti alliance’s victory and have demanded that future elections be conducted using traditional ballot papers instead of EVMs.
Jankar, known for his protests against EVMs, challenged the state government and the Election Commission. Addressing Ranjitsinh Naik Nimbalkar’s claim, where Nimbalkar offered to hand over his entire property if EVMs could be proven to be hacked, Jankar said, “For the past month, I have been protesting against EVM manipulation. What happened in my constituency reflects what is happening across Maharashtra.
“I have studied the Baramati case, where Ajit Pawar lost by a margin of 20,000 votes, and in another case, Jaykumar Gore lost by 13,000 votes. Similar discrepancies have been observed in many other areas.”
Jankar’s claims have added fuel to the ongoing debate, with the opposition renewing calls for greater transparency in election processes.
