Pune: A seasoned criminal, Mohoram Ali Shafi Sheikh (32), a resident of Sanjay Gandhi Marg, has been arrested by Crime Branch Unit 2 for his involvement in multiple robbery cases.

Sheikh, previously incarcerated at Yerwada Jail under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), was released on bail but resumed his illegal activities shortly thereafter. He was implicated in a series of robberies in the Lashkar and Bund Garden areas.

During the operation, police recovered four stolen mobile phones valued at ₹93,000 from Sheikh’s possession. His criminal history includes a robbery case registered at Bund Garden police station in 2021 and six other theft cases that remain pending.
The arrest was carried out by a dedicated team led by Police Inspector Pratap Mankar, with assistance from API Ashish Kavthekar, PSI Nitin Kambale, and constables Shankar Kumbhar, Pushpendra Chavan, and Nikhil Jadhav. Acting on a tip-off from Constables Omkar Kumbhar and Hanumant Kambale, the team successfully apprehended Sheikh.

Investigations are ongoing to link Sheikh to additional cases and ensure legal proceedings against him. Authorities have commended the team’s swift and efficient action in apprehending a repeat offender.
