Pimpri-Chinchwad: Several areas within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) limits are grappling with a major safety hazard due to negligence by the drainage department. Open chamber lids along roadsides have become a serious risk for motorists and pedestrians, sparking outrage among residents who question whether action will only be taken after a tragic incident occurs.
Despite repeated complaints, the issue remains unresolved, leaving commuters vulnerable to accidents. The exposed steel edges of these chambers pose a significant threat, increasing the chances of injuries for both pedestrians and vehicle users. Residents claim that multiple attempts to contact the drainage department and regional offices (Zone C and Zone E) have yielded no response.
“Who will take responsibility if someone gets injured or worse due to these open chambers? If an accident occurs, will the drainage department accept accountability?” questioned Ravi Kachi, a concerned resident.
Citizens are now demanding immediate intervention from the authorities to address this hazardous situation before it leads to serious consequences.
