Pimpri Chinchwad: In an effort to prevent the spread of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has started taking strong measures. The civic body has launched an inspection campaign targeting unauthorized private RO plants that are bottling water using contaminated sources. As part of this initiative, action was taken today against 10 such RO plants, with orders issued to shut them down immediately. The information was shared by Commissioner Shekhar Singh.
Amid concerns about the increasing cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) and other public health issues, the PCMC has been testing water samples from private RO plants. The inspections revealed that unauthorized operators were using polluted water, mostly sourced from borewells and open water bodies, for bottling purposes.
To protect public health and avoid future health problems, the municipal corporation is taking immediate action against illegal water bottling and RO plants supplying contaminated water. The inspections and actions are expected to continue late into the night.
