Pune: A pedestrian sustained serious injuries after being hit by a speeding auto-rickshaw in the Ganeshnagar area of Dhayari around 7:30 PM on April 2. The rickshaw driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
The injured individual has been identified as Hrishikesh Sharad Ashtekar, 49, a resident of Ganeshnagar, Dhayari. A formal complaint was lodged by his brother, Abhishek Sharad Ashtekar, 43, a resident of Warje, at Nanded City Police Station.
According to the police, Hrishikesh had stepped out to collect clothes from the laundry and buy milk when the accident occurred. While walking along the roadside, he was hit by an unidentified rickshaw that was allegedly speeding and violating traffic rules. The collision took place on the road leading toward the Dhayari Phata junction.
Hrishikesh suffered serious injuries and is currently undergoing medical treatment. Police Constable Kumbhar is investigating the case. An FIR has been registered against the unknown rickshaw driver, and authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and recording eyewitness statements to trace and identify the accused.
