Pimpri Chinchwad: In a significant move against corruption within the law enforcement system, the Pune division of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended a police sub-inspector from Pimpri Police Station while he was accepting a bribe of ₹30,000.

The officer, identified as Sub-Inspector Nilesh Ramesh Bokefode (38), had allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹40,000 from a complainant. The bribe was reportedly in exchange for the return of a vehicle seized in a criminal case and to prevent further legal action related to the matter.

After receiving a formal complaint, the ACB set a trap and caught the officer red-handed during the transaction. The operation was carried out successfully on April 15. Following the arrest, a case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has appealed to citizens to report any demands for bribes or corrupt behavior by government officials. Complaints can be submitted through the following channels:

Toll-Free Numbers: 1064 / 1800 222 021

Email: dyspacbpune@mahapolice.gov.in

Website: www.acbmaharashtra.gov.in

Online Complaint Portal: www.acbmaharashtra.net.in

The ACB reiterated its commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in public service and assured strict action against corrupt officials to ensure justice and uphold public trust.
