Pimpri-Chinchwad: Senior citizens in Pimpri-Chinchwad living without family support will now receive quicker and more efficient police assistance thanks to a newly launched mobile application. The app, specially developed to cater to the needs of elderly residents, enables the police control room to instantly access the caller’s medical background, personal information, and precise location as soon as a distress call is made.
The initiative has been led by Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey, with support from Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Shivaji Pawar. The app was created in collaboration with a local private university and is aimed at reducing response time during emergencies by using technology-driven solutions.
Previously, the Senior Citizen Cell handled emergency calls using traditional methods—collecting details over the phone and deploying help manually. This often led to delays. The new app intends to streamline the process by preloading important data, which the police will gather during in-person visits to the homes of elderly citizens.
One of the main motivations behind the development was the growing trend of elderly individuals living alone, as their children move away for work. In many cases, seniors struggle to find critical information such as contact numbers for pharmacies or nearby hospitals, especially in emergencies. The app solves this by offering one-touch access to vital services.
The application also provides comprehensive information on government schemes, eligibility, access points, and useful helplines. A special emergency button allows seniors to directly alert police, while their full profile—including photo and health conditions—pops up on the department’s dashboard for immediate action.
Additionally, users can add their preferred hospitals, doctors, and pharmacies under a “favourites” tab. If assistance is needed, the police can promptly contact these chosen service providers to coordinate help.
In light of the fast-paced lifestyles of working adults, many elderly citizens are left feeling isolated. This tech-based solution positions the police as a dependable lifeline, offering not just security but also emotional reassurance.
Commenting on the initiative, Commissioner Choubey told Pune Times Mirror, “A large population of senior citizens in the city often requires urgent yet minor support. Many of them are alone, and we’ve seen cases of cyber fraud while they try to seek help. Our app ensures they’re never left stranded and can reach out to the police and emergency services at the press of a button. This initiative is all about giving them peace of mind.”
Medical Conditions Tracked by the App:

This initiative is expected to enhance the safety net for senior citizens across the city, ensuring they receive timely and appropriate support whenever needed.
