Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced a delay in issuing property tax bills for the financial year 2025-26, which will now be released on May 1 instead of the usual date of April 1. The delay is attributed to the ongoing verification of PT-3 forms submitted by property owners seeking a 40% rebate on residential properties.
Pratibha Patil, Deputy Commissioner of PMC’s property tax department, confirmed that the verification process is still underway, leading to the postponement of bill issuance. She urged residents to ensure timely payment of taxes, highlighting that despite the delay, taxpayers can still benefit from a 5% to 10% rebate if they pay their taxes before June 30. Normally, PMC offers these discounts for early payments made before May 31.
The 40% rebate applies to property owners who occupy their homes, as per state government regulations. To qualify for this concession, homeowners were required to submit PT-3 forms, and so far, between 1.5 lakh and 1.75 lakh applications have been received across various municipal offices.
The verification process has been delayed due to staff shortages in the property tax department. Additionally, efforts to enhance revenue collection over the past two months have contributed to the prolonged review period. Patil emphasized that the department is committed to completing the verification before issuing bills to prevent any inconvenience for taxpayers who would otherwise need to visit municipal offices for corrections.
