Pune: In a firm move to tackle unauthorized constructions, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducted a demolition drive on June 5, 2025, targeting illegal commercial structures at Final Plot No. 614B along Fergusson College Road. The civic action led to the removal of unauthorized shops sprawling over approximately 12,500 square feet.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of City Engineer and Superintendent Engineer Rajesh Bankar. The Zone 6 Building Development Department, with full inter-departmental coordination, took charge of the execution.
Executive Engineer Surendra Karpe headed the demolition team, with strong support from Deputy Engineers Ranjit Mutkule, Kiran Kalshetti, and Valse-Patil. Junior Engineers Mahesh Shinde, Manojkumar Mate, Sagar Shinde, Gholap, and Zodape also played key roles during the action, alongside technical assistants and ground staff who ensured the drive progressed smoothly.
This initiative is part of PMC’s broader mission to clear encroachments, restore public spaces, and regulate commercial operations strictly within legally designated zones. Civic authorities emphasized their unwavering commitment to curbing illegal developments and enforcing urban planning norms citywide.
Municipal officials have indicated that similar enforcement actions will follow in other areas where unauthorized constructions have been identified.
