Pune: In a significant move towards enhancing governance and operational efficiency, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated Artificial Intelligence (AI) skill development training for its employees. This initiative aligns with the state government’s ‘100 Day Action Plan’ and aims to equip PMC staff with AI competencies to improve public service delivery.
The workshop, conducted in collaboration with Training Prabodhini and PMC’s Information Technology Department, saw participation from over 367 officials, including department heads and health officers. Renowned AI experts Dr. Bhushan Kelkar, Dr. Amey Pangarkar, and Dr. Madhura Kelkar led the sessions, providing practical insights and live demonstrations on integrating AI into administrative functions.
Dr. Bhushan Kelkar emphasized AI’s transformative potential in government operations, highlighting its role in enhancing efficiency in document management, data analysis, and public service delivery. The training also addressed the ethical use of AI, aiming to bolster transparency and accountability within the civic administration.
Senior PMC officials, including Additional Municipal Commissioners Pradeep Chandran and Prithviraj BP, extended their support to the initiative, underscoring the importance of embracing technology for effective governance. Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Nandkar introduced the program, with System Manager Rahul Jagtap facilitating the sessions and expressing gratitude to all participants.
This initiative positions PMC at the forefront of integrating AI into public administration, promising enhanced governance and improved citizen services.
