Pune: After a prolonged 30-year legal dispute over land in Lullanagar, the Poona Parsee Panchayat (PPP) is now dealing with a fresh challenge—an alleged encroachment attempt on its 8.5-acre property in the same area. The Panchayat has accused certain individuals of unauthorized occupation, claiming that structures have been erected without consent.

In response, PPP has taken legal steps by filing complaints with the Wanawadi police station, the Pune Police Commissioner’s office, and the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) anti-encroachment department, urging immediate intervention.

PPP asserts that the land, situated at Survey No. 603, remains under its legal ownership and has neither been sold nor leased to any individual. Reports indicate that an attempt was made to claim approximately half an acre of the property by setting up poles and tin sheets. During a site inspection, unauthorized activity was identified in the western part of the land.

Concerned about potential misuse, PPP has also expressed apprehensions about the possibility of unauthorized construction. Machinery, including a JCB, was reportedly brought onto the land, raising fears of further developments. The Panchayat has urged PMC to withhold any approvals for modifications or construction on the disputed portion.

PPP maintains that this matter is distinct from a previous legal case involving the Lulla family, who had won ownership rights over a different parcel of land. The Panchayat views this latest development as a direct threat to the community’s historical and cultural heritage, emphasizing the significance of preserving the land entrusted to them for generations.

Meanwhile, a conflicting claim has emerged from Bhagwan Lulla, a landowner in the area, who has denied allegations of encroachment. According to him, a court ruling supports his ownership of the property.

As legal proceedings continue, the PPP remains determined to protect what it considers its rightful property, while awaiting further action from the authorities.
