Pune: In a significant move, more than 100 members of the Poona Parsee Panchayat (PPP), under the leadership of Chairperson Adv. Marazban Irani, gathered to dismantle an illegal boundary erected by encroachers on sacred trust land allocated for the betterment of the Zoroastrian community. Despite securing a favorable ruling from a lower court, a family had illegally occupied the land, prompting the PPP to take swift action.
For years, the community has been battling unauthorized activities on the land, including the disposal of garbage and dried leaves by local authorities. The PPP’s decisive steps have rekindled hopes for progress after a prolonged 25-year struggle to preserve the area.
Community members expressed appreciation for those who joined the effort to safeguard their heritage, although some prominent figures chose not to participate in the initiative. The PPP’s successful intervention signals a turning point in the fight to protect valuable community resources.
