New Delhi: In a significant boost for young job seekers, the Central Government has launched the second phase of applications for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) 2024-25, offering opportunities to 1 lakh eligible candidates across India.

Aspiring candidates can apply through the official portal at https://pminternship.mca.gov.in/login/* before the deadline on March 12, 2025.

The scheme targets Indian youth aged 21 to 24 who are neither employed full-time nor enrolled in formal education. Students pursuing online or distance learning programs are eligible to apply, provided their family’s annual income does not exceed ₹8 lakh. However, candidates from families with a member in permanent government employment are excluded.

Graduates from premier institutions such as IITs, IIMs, IISERs, NID, IIITs, and NLUs, as well as those with professional degrees like CA, CMA, CS, MBBS, BDS, MBA, or postgraduate qualifications**, are ineligible. Additionally, youth enrolled in government-sponsored skill development programs cannot apply.

Interested candidates must visit the official PMIS website and complete the registration process using their mobile number. After registration, applicants need to fill out the online form, upload required documents, review details, and submit the application. A printout of the submitted form should be retained for future reference.

The PMIS aims to bridge the gap between education and employment by providing hands-on experience to youth from economically weaker backgrounds. The first phase, launched earlier this year, received overwhelming responses, with over 5 lakh applications.

A government spokesperson stated, This initiative reflects our commitment to empowering India’s youth with practical skills and exposure, ensuring they are job-ready in a competitive market.

With the rising demand for skilled professionals, the second phase is expected to bolster career prospects for thousands while addressing unemployment challenges. For updates, applicants are advised to regularly check the official PMIS portal.
