Pune: Wanawadi Police have successfully apprehended a habitual drug dealer, Shailesh Shankar Suryawanshi (35), from Ramtekdi, Hadapsar, after he was found transporting 3.58 kg of Cannabis. The drugs, valued at ₹60,000, along with a mobile phone worth ₹10,000 and a mopad worth ₹80,000, were seized during the operation.
The incident took place when the police investigation team, led by the Wanawadi Police Station, was conducting routine checks on known offenders in the area. Based on a tip-off from informants, the police intercepted Suryawanshi’s two-wheeler near the Ramtekdi bridge, where he was found carrying the ganja. Following a search of his vehicle, the officers recovered the drugs hidden in the trunk.
Suryavanshi, who had previously been involved in drug-related offenses, has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Wanawadi Police Station. Authorities have expressed their commitment to curbing drug trafficking in the area.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Police Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajkumar Shinde and Assistant Commissioner Dhanykumar Godse. Senior Police Inspector Satyajit Admane, along with Crime Branch Inspector Govind Jadhav and other police personnel, played crucial roles in the successful bust. The investigation continues as authorities work to track down other potential drug dealers in the region.
