Pune: During a recent media interaction, Legislative Council Member Yogesh Tilekar highlighted key issues raised in the budget session, including the need for equal and 24/7 water supply across Pune, the expansion of the Katraj-Kondhwa Road, and the regulation of illegal land plotting and unauthorized constructions. Tilekar assured that authorities have responded positively, and a meeting will be held soon to address these concerns.
Tilekar was accompanied by BJP Yuva Morcha members Prof. Sachin Jaybhaye, Bhushan Nahata, and Balasaheb Ghule during the press conference. The issues raised by Tilekar included water crisis management, illegal plotting, unauthorized schools operating in illegal buildings, and the delay in the Katraj-Kondhwa Road project, which has not yet commenced despite ₹280 crore being allocated. He expressed hope that these matters would be resolved promptly.
Tilekar also discussed the increasing pressure on the municipal administration due to rapid urbanization in Pune, especially in suburban areas. He emphasized the need for a separate municipal corporation for these areas to ensure proper infrastructure development. He further mentioned ongoing discussions with the Chief Minister regarding this matter, with a decision expected soon.
Addressing the problem of illegal construction and land plotting, Tilekar stated that meetings with the Revenue Minister are being held to resolve this issue effectively.
Development Proposals and Memorials Tilekar proposed the establishment of a cancer hospital next to the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cultural Hall, with a suggestion to name it after Dr. Ambedkar. If a hospital is not feasible, he suggested constructing a memorial for Dr. Ambedkar on the same land, emphasizing that it should not be handed over to private developers. Additionally, he called for a memorial for Dharmaveergad similar to the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Memorial at Sangameshwar.
Tilekar also raised the issue of the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution, proposing a ₹100 crore allocation for the development of the Sant Savata Mali pilgrimage site in Solapur, with a request for it to be given ‘A’ grade status.
