Pune: Pune Excise Raid has sent a strong warning to illegal party organisers ahead of New Year celebrations. Acting on specific intelligence, the Pune State Excise Department conducted a major raid at the unlicensed hotel ‘The Noir (Red Jungle)’ in Viman Nagar during the early hours of December 27, 2025.
The Pune Excise Raid took place around 5 am at the hotel located on Airport Road. The operation was led by State Excise Superintendent Atul Kanade. Officials found that the establishment was running a late-night party without a valid excise licence and was illegally serving liquor.
During the Pune Excise Raid, officers seized 178 bottles of foreign liquor. They also confiscated equipment used for the party, including chairs, sofas, wooden tables, iron structures, speakers, sound systems, laptops, computers, glass items, and a fog machine. The total value of seized material stands at approximately ₹3.67 lakh.
The Excise Department registered cases against hotel operator Amarjit Singh Sandhu and nine others under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, 1949. In addition, 42 youths found consuming alcohol at the venue were booked. In total, 52 individuals now face legal action.
Officials confirmed that two accused are absconding, and search teams are working to trace them. The department stated that similar raids will continue across Pune to curb illegal liquor sales and unlicensed New Year parties.
